The Lollipops

£7,500.00

This painting grew out of a simple necessity: the need to make something new after a quiet period in the studio. Instead of reaching for a brush, I experimented with texture using my expired passport as a tool, scraping and dragging paint across the surface. Letting that document dissolve into the work felt like a turning point—as if my past journeys were being folded into the evolving identity of an artist, and my collection was naturally expanding. The circular forms that emerged reminded me of lollipops, playful yet strangely grounded. At first, I was unsure about the piece, but as the paint hardened and the colours settled, I found myself returning to it again and again, slowly falling in love with what had appeared almost by accident.
